What: Pancreatic Cancer Concert with Brooke Barrettsmith

Sony BMG recording artist Brooke Barrettsmith will perform two concerts on Saturday, June 7, 2008 in honor of her uncle, H. Straten Barrettsmith, a five year pancreatic cancer survivor. The concerts will be held at St. Mary of Vernon Parish Center in Indian Creek, Illinois.

Tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50 and are available online at www.pancan.org/brookebarrettsmith. Tickets are free for pancreatic cancer survivors. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Additional proceeds from this event will go to the Michael Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation in Chicago.

Join us for our next Chicago Affiliate Meeting! Learn more about the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and find out how you can get involved. We will have our meeting first to set our upcoming goals, develop new committees and action items. Then everyone is invited to stay and enjoy great food and mingle at Murphy's Bleachers.

Free parking in back off of Waveland. Also conveniently located near the Addison Red line El stop.

Join the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Marathon Team in beautiful Chicago for this exciting event! There's no better way to see the windy city than by running through it.

Marathon Team members are required to raise a minimum of $2900 by September 26th, 2008 in order to participate. If you have previously run with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Marathon Team, you can sign up as an Alumni and your fundraising minimum will be $2400.

What: Crossing for Cancer

On August 15, 2008, portrait artist Scott Glazier will embark on a 60-day, solo cycling expedition beginning in Los Angeles, CA.  The expedition will culminate in a closing reception and silent auction in Chicago, IL on November 9, 2008. Throughout the journey, Glazier will stop in the following cities, in order to sketch portraits of individuals battling pancreatic cancer:

Barstow, CA: August 18
Death Valley Junction, NV: August 22
Las Vegas, NV: August 26
Cedar City, UT: August 29
Monticello, UT: September 5
Montrose, CO: September 9
Pueblo, CO: September 20
Boulder, CO: September 20
Scott City, KS: September 24
Wichita, KS: September 29
Chanute, KS: October 2
Stockton, MO: October 6
St. Louis, MO: October 15
Champaign, IL: October 20
Chicago, IL: October 24
Marseilles, IL: October 25-26

The portraits will be auctioned off at a closing reception, set to take place in Chicago, on November 9, 2008. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Individuals who sit for a portrait along the route will receive a complimentary copy of their sketch. A second sketch will be part of the collection included in the November 9th closing reception. Those interested in sitting for a portrait should contact Scott Glazier shg9000@gmail.com for details. Each sketch will take approximately 30 minutes.
