Joel McHale
Host, "The Soup"
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is pleased to have Joel McHale host the 11th annual "An Evening with the Stars. "Joel has a personal connection to
pancreatic cancer. His cousin Nick, to whom Joel was very close, passed away
in 2006 from pancreatic cancer. Joel proudly wears his purple pancreatic
cancer awareness wristband and always speaks about our organization when an
opportunity presents itself. We are very grateful for his support.
Serving as the pale and at times blasphemous host of E! Entertainment Television’s hit show, “The Soup”, Joel McHale has made his mark in popular culture at warp speed. Each week “Soup” fans have come to rely on his trademark boyish good looks and tawdry commentary as he expertly wraps up the week’s most outlandish moments in entertainment. Whether it’s re-living the most hilarious moments in reality TV, relenting to the finer qualities of Mexican television or chronicling the escapades of celebrities, celebutantes, politicians or other famous hosts on the tube, Joel can be counted on to tell it like it is.
Hailing from Seattle, Washington, Joel began his career as a cast member on Comedy Central’s “Almost Live!” (during which time he realized maybe he should learn how to act). Following in the footsteps of Patrick Duffy, Joel managed to complete the Actor’s Training Masters Program at The University of Washington in 2000 where he honed his acting craft, played video games incessantly and discovered his passion: single malt scotch. Finally seeing his day in the sun, Joel took off for Southern California to pursue a future in acting and fell in love…with Korean BBQ. Well satiated with marinated beef, he quickly landed parts in “Will and Grace” and “CSI: Miami”. Obsessed Joel McHale fans or bored people may also recognize him from “Spiderman 2,” “Thank God You’re Here!”, “Pushing Daisies” and “The Lords of Dogtown.” Catch Joel every Friday on Adam Carolla’s nationally syndicated radio show. He is also a frequent guest on “Loveline” and regularly does stand up comedy around the country.
Currently, Joel is filming “Open Season 2” with Jane Krakowski and is slated to star in an upcoming Steven Soderbergh movie starring Matt Damon entitled, The Informant”
Joel lives with his hot wife Sarah and their two sons Eddie and Isaac in the exclusive city of Glendale, CA. He likes all animals and will wear a kilt if asked to.
