Hi. Do you know where your pancreas is? Do you know what it does? The pancreas is a gland that’s important for digestion and regulating the level of sugar in your blood. It’s buried deep inside your body between your stomach, and your spine. Pancreatic cancer is when a cancer tumor grows inside the pancreas. Due to the location of the pancreas in your body, detecting a pancreatic cancer tumor is difficult and the disease usually isn’t diagnosed until it’s way too late.
INSERT YOUR PERSONAL STORY HERE:
Example 1 of inserting your personal story along with the facts about pancreatic cancer
How do I know this? [INSERT PERSONAL STORY] Because that’s what happened to my brother. He was 52 year old, married with two kids. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and he was gone within 18 months. And he was one of the luckier ones. 75% of all people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer are gone within 12 months. Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., yet it receives the least amount of federal research dollars among all leading cancers and little public attention. There are no early detection or pre-screening tools like there are for breast, prostate and colon cancer. To put it another way, pancreatic cancer research is where breast cancer was in the 1930s. That’s almost 80 years behind where we should be! [Go to section A]
Example #2 of inserting your personal story along with the facts about pancreatic cancer
How do I know this? [INSERT PERSONAL STORY] Because my mom has pancreatic cancer – she’s a true survivor and she has been fighting hard for 20 months. We all know she is one of the lucky ones and she is an inspiration to others who are facing pancreatic cancer. Did you know that pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., yet it receives the least amount of federal research dollars per patient among all leading cancers and little public attention?
